And I personally think that Positron's TF not having an AV is a good
thing. At that level any pickup group you get into or form for the TF
is too unreliable to stick with you to the end. It's nice that you could
solo the whole thing if everyone bails after that first couple of missions
of team wipes.

Unless you're at least mid-20s and fully slotted out with SOs, I would
avoid Invinicible missions. I personally believe that people who set themselves
up as Invincible and then invite a fully team just want to be powerleveled
indirectly. With the exception of newbies who don't know what the Reputation
thing is all about, of course. Keep an eye on the mission owner. See if
he's participating fully.

I completely agree with those pointing out that many have unrealistic
expectations for pre-20 teams. Not having certain key powers or SO's make
a huge difference, and teams will not perform at nearly the efficiency
as a high level team.
I feels this is true. Personally, whenever I make a new alt, I avoid
teaming a lot because of how gimped I feel. Most or all my powers are
new and I don't have a full grasp of how to use them well. Although at
certain points, I will put up the ol' looking for team flag just to test
myself. Usually when I'm starting to add the Pool powers. I've already
had a level or so to workout the kinks of the last primary or secondary
power I got.
While I don't do all of the Hollows, I try to finish Flux at least so
I can try my hand at soloing FrostFire. He's my first big test. Once I
can do him solo, I'll join another FF team or two to see how I am with
the additional difficulty of teamwork. I also view the Positron and Synapse
TFs as tests of my ability. They're pre-SO and stamina.

I want hostages that will scream for help.

I generally try to get by without using inspirations. I don't want to
be dependent on external boosts. I want to know that my base efforts are
good enough. Of course, if things go badly, I'll use what I need. However,
I do not want to gamble that I will get enough or appropriate replacements
by the time I meet the boss at the end. I'll take a shopping trip if it's
really necessary, but I'm kinda lazy.
I do keep a standard set neatly organized and ready, though. One and
a half columns respites, two columns of breaths, 1 or 2 break frees, and
rages or lucks to fill out the tray. Unless I'm on a TF, I don't carry
awakens anymore. I figure if I get defeated, I can shop for more inspirations
on my way back.

I forget the name of original poster that suggested the MAN or was it
HuMAN play style for COH. This was from last year.
Anyway, the guy described himself as a follower of the founder of the
"Nake Mages" and "Beyond Naked Mages" play styles
for Diablo 1. The Diablo mages had the lowest amount of hitpoints. A "Naked
Mage" would play without using any armour or weapons and would rely
only on base magical abilities. By playing as a "Beyond Naked Mage",
you had to gimp yourself even further by equiping yourself with the highest
level of cursed items you can find. The object was to make replay of Diable
more interesting and challenging. I thought it was interesting enough
to bring a character up to about level 12 or so.
Anyway, the "MAN" or "HuMAN" play varient he suggested
for COH is based on the concept of your character being the average joe,
ie a non-superpowered human. You're allowed to choose any archtype, but
it is recommended that you choose a low hitpoint type to truly prove yourself.
It doesn't matter which primary or secondary power sets you select because
you may not use any powers from your primary or secondary sets at any
time. The only powers you are allowed to use in this play style are your
inherents and any from the power pools. Again, the goal is to try to get
as high as you can and to show up anyone who says this game is too hard
when you are making do with a truly gimped build. The last I heard there
were about a dozen people from the forum trying out the playstyle with
the SG he formed. I think he was at least level 16 before I lost track
of the thread.

way things work for a while now."
I'm sorry to say, but this is total BS. I don't usually pay attention
to what I get from TFs, but I just checked my controller who I've been
playing since last year (she has holloween badges). She's got souveniers
from Positron, Synapse, Sister Psyche, Bastion, and Manticore. None of
which I led. The only souvenier I'm missing is Numina's (now that I'm
looking for it) who's TF I just did last week.

A way to make the Paragon Dance Party more popular: maybe the bartender
sells the non-Power-10 enchancements on the sly - at reasonable rates
even.

I'd like those frickin' Behemoths spawning from the Orenbrega portals
to give experience. Yeah, yeah. I know the zero exp from them was put
in place to stop the exploit. But still! They frickin' do a lot of damage
to my characters (solo). And with the "defeat all" mission,
it's not like I can just blow by them.

Unfortunately, there is a quite a lot to COH that the casual player will
never know. Only the ones who make the effort to read the forums or hunt
out the fan sites will learn how much they don't know. That's why I would
really like an updated manual with real info, ie hard facts and instructions,
made available. The old Prima guide is too ancient.

One of my characters picked up the Nemesis Staff mission over a month
ago. I made the decision to put her aside until I could arrange to spend
5 days savoying the quality time with the big spinning staff of power
she was going to get. Imagine my disappointment when I read the Recent
Changes the other day.
Well, I finally did the mission to get the Staff and I must say, it sucks.
The Staff is not at all fun anymore. Single target has no pazzazz. In
the old days, whipping out the Staff and Blam! would bring a gleeful smile
to my faces as a tight group of villians would blossom apart. That in
itself was a worthy reward for endeavoring 30+ levels. Now, eh. I couldn't
even gather the enthusiam to take screenshots of it.
I had another alt, my solo controller, get her staff recently prior to
the adjustment. It was 5 days of bliss. How many of you had to toil through
your levels dependent on only one attack that did decent damage (air superiority
- I did eventually pick up flurry just to add a change of pace.)? The
amazing (from a controller's point of view) AOE from the Staff was a breath
of fresh air. Instead of dreading my missions, I was eagar to do them.
That was a good week. And I took screenshots with the Staff because it
and it's time was a defining moment in my character, a milestone I touched
and left behind.
Now what about my other alts? What do they have to look forward to now?
Just "another temp power"? If it wasn't a limited real timed
power, it may have appeal. The Electromagnetic Grenades and Holy Shotgun
Shells are only so-so on they're own except for certain situations, but
hey, I still have them.
I ask that the recent Nemesis Staff changes be retracted.

I am not one to join in on the rants, but I feel compelled to cast my
voice in with the Fly crowd. This -acc retraction to SS and SJ is totally
bogus and a complete dis to Fly if Fly is not included.
